The Spanish Grand Prix was crowded with fans hoping to see the Spaniard standing on the podium after his previous podium appearance on home soil several years ago. Whatever was wrong with the car, the team is prepared to respond.

Aston Martin had a rough outing in Barcelona, with Lance Stroll finishing sixth and Fernando Alonso seventh. Both divers struggled to keep up with both Mercedes cars and Carlos Sainz's Ferrari.

We can agree that Mercedes might have taken a step forward but Ferrari's case is a lot more complex. Mike Krack, team principal at Aston Martin said that the team struggled on its opening stint on soft tires but things started to stabilize when the car switched onto a harder compound later on in the race.

"No, I don't think so. Because when we look later in the race, when we had the hard tires on for example, we were completely in the game again compared to the competitor. So, we need to understand what's happened in the beginning there."

Aston Martin's biggest weakness in Barcelona was tire degradation. and considering AMR23 as a draggy car, the new layout with more fast corners just hurt them more. But after the race, Alonso looked positive ahead of the Canadian GP:

"In Canada, we'll bring more things, and in Silverstone too. It will all depend on which team is bringing updates. Even then, with a normal qualifying, we would have started alongside Hamilton and could have had some better chances. I think it's just one race, and then in Canada, we crush them."

with the team planning to bring upgrades in Canada and Silverstone, we can expect them to overtake Mercedes in pure pace. While Mercedes and Ferrari Brought a B-spec car, we can expect them to analyze the same package for several races while Aston Martin plans to bring upgrades based on the same car improving its overall performance it looks like Aston Martin has the upper hand until summer break.
