Lando Norris: You can't do what Max did

The McLaren drivers are not too happy with the qualifying results and admit that they expected to show higher speeds, but failed.

Also during qualifying there was an incident between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen. McLaren driver believes that in the episode when Max Verstappen turned sharply in his direction on the warm-up lap of the Japanese Grand Prix, he did not warm up the tires, but tried to block a driver so that he did not start his fastest lap earlier.

Lando Norris (10th): "It was a difficult day, I was not quite comfortable driving, besides, I'm a little unwell. Because of all this, we were not able to achieve the best possible result, although in the second session I managed to drive a good lap.

At some moments I was happy with what I was doing, but in general it was difficult to achieve the right pace, and just when it was most needed. Especially in the final session, things didn't go according to plan when I had to go off the track on the grass.

It's pretty obvious that Max was trying to stop me. There is no clear rule regulating how you can act on the exit circle from the pits. But what he did cannot be done. Everyone always tries to get ahead of each other until the last turn (on the exit circle from the pits), and everyone agrees with this.

In my place, he probably would have done the same thing, but if I were in his place, I wouldn't wag in his direction. However, it doesn't matter now”.

The Briton was asked if he would have expected a fine from the stewards if he had been in Verstappen's place.

"Yes, of course," Norris replied.

In the end, Max Verstappen was only given a warning, there was no penalty.
