Max Verstappen secured his first pole in Monaco with less than a tenth of a second ahead of Alonso. Hometown Hero Charles Leclerc will start tomorrow from p3. After a late push, Esteban Ocon will start fourth, with Carlos Sainz closing out the top five.

After colliding with a wall at Sainte Devote, Sergio Perez was the biggest loser in Q1, and the red flag was raised with eleven minutes remaining.

The Mexican entered the first turn with too much speed, which caused the Red Bull RB19's back end to step out. He was propelled by the velocity toward the exit wall, where his rear-left wheel collided with the Tecpro barrier and severely damaged his rear suspension.

Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton were significantly in danger when the session resumed due to the track's quick evolution, and they lingered in the drop zone as the Q1 session drew to a close.

While Hamilton experienced a slip on his penultimate flying lap at the Nouvelle Chicane and quickly had to regroup for one final effort, Sainz had aborted laps.

Both drivers performed very well under pressure and moved up from the bottom five, which hurt the Haas team as Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg were eliminated at the start of the qualifying.

Logan Sargeant jumped the pair of Haas cars while Perez starts last following his crash, alongside Zhou Guanyu.
